The walls/ceiling are light and the carpet is neutral, closer to light. I’m thinking of getting dark furniture to contrast it, I think it might look quite stylish.

What do you think? How will it make the room feel?

What color should I paint a furnished basement that has no windows? The couch is navy blue and the rug is grey

The only restrictions are the navy blue leather couch and the carpet which is a light grey. There are no windows so I don’t want it to look too small or have the color be too overwhelming. Any suggestions? I thought maybe a yellow or orange type of color but I can’t really decide!

The room I want to make already seems very dark with the brown on the ceiling and a darker brown carpet. I dont want to make it any darker! I would like to paint an accent wall and I would prefer not to put any light furniture in, since I have kids, and you know how that is.. Please give me your ideas!!

Did you notice the home they featured had a pure white crocheted couch cover, and a pure white carpet, and expensive dining room set. That was all furnished by the media to make you THINK the kids were living in heaven. Anything white a kid gets dirty in seconds. Nothing stays pure not even her stinking open streched crotch. UGHHHHHHHH
Your thoughts??????????

I’ve been improving my home. Do I need to send subcontractors Form 1099-MISC?

qriusjorj asked:

This past year we improved our home. We hired subcontractors to do the majority of the work (plumbing, carpet, drywall, finish trim). We paid several of these contractors more than $600. Are we supposed to report their earnings to the IRS and furnish the contractors with a Form 1099-MISC? I’ve never done this in the past but someone told me I’m supposed to be doing this.

Thanks for the help!

I am claiming a 10% wear and tear allowance, however I have had to replace a carpet and according to the HMRC guidance you cannot claim for this type of item as well as claiming the wear and tear allowance.

However, a carpet has been damaged by the previous tennants and it had to be replaced, so in these circumstances is it allowable to claim the wear and tear and claim an allowable expense for the replacement?

What color furniture would look best in a white apartment?

Some_Guy asked:

I’m moving into a new apartment in a couple of weeks, and I’m going to go buy a bunch of new furniture. But I’m not too sure as to what color furniture (sofa, tables, dinette, etc.) I should get. What will go good with an apartment with walls that are white, and carpet that is sort of a “dirty” white, but white nonetheless.

Right now I’m thinking the obvious black but what do you think?

Me asked:

I live in a small townhouse. My living room is very small with a “L” shape that flows in to my dining space…my sofa and love seat are both sage green in a “v” shape layout facing my entertainment stand and windows. I have 2 end tables on either side of the entertainment stand. I have a darker grey/brownish wall color. My curtains are black sheer, and my carpet is a creamy beige color, and my furnishings (entertainment stand, and end tables) are all dark hard wood. I dont have a inspiration piece for this room, or much to accent with…just kinda threw the room together. I want it to have some kind of style…or look to pull it all together because it feels like its missing something. i need some ideas for accent colors, or different curtains mabie??…It is the main room in my home, and I want to be proud of it. Do I have too much going on, or can it work? Im up for some changes, Please help!!

When crime scene investigators scour someone’s home for evidence, do they clean up afterward?

joe friday’s grrl asked:

I watch a lot of shows about gathering of forensic evidence, and I’ve always wondered about this. Often, people’s personal belongings are rifled through, parts of their furnishings or pieces of their houses are removed, and then carted off for testing. I’m just wondering what happens after that, especially for someone found to be completely innocent, where something like a chunk of their carpet was pulled up. Do the powers-that-be provide restitution in such instances, and is it timely? Do they even apologize for tearing up someone’s dwelling and looking at their personal effects when the person’s done nothing wrong?
My only personal experience was having my place dusted for fingerprints when our new home was broken into and we were robbed. That black dust alone made a terrible mess, and I doubt they even did anything about trying to find the teenaged petty thief.
