Punishment for furnishing alcohol to a minor?
Long story, but basically the minor was dropped off at her home @ 6 AM. got pulled over around 8AM. and cops smelled alcohol then asked where she got it from. so she led them back to my house. and i got a ticket for furnishing to a minor.
I had to be in the holding cell for like an hour and the judge gave me a PR bond. and my court date is Sep 12th. so im wondering if i should get an attourney or have a public defender or what? i havent told my parents either bc they have enough to worry about. so im kinda on my own on this one. what should i do or look forward too? i have a clean record.
also the girl was a passenger when her friend got pulled over. so she didnt get a DWI just a MIC. and im a full time student so i cant really afford a lawyer

You mean you HAD a clean record.
Say hello to “Bubba” for us. joox
You HAD a clean record. Better get a lawyer, it could be a bit worse then simply furnishing alcohol to a minor, you let her drive, so you put her in danger. Yo it’s Me
Your record is no longer clean. Depending on the age difference, you could be in for several charges. Nana64
“so im wondering if i should get an attourney or have a public defender or what?”
A Public Defender IS an attorney.
The choice is not yours. To be eligible for a PD you have to satisfy the court you cannot afford to pay for a lawyer on your own. If you *can* pay, you must.
If you can afford it, lawyer up as soon as possible. A PD will not be appointed until your first court hearing. Having a lawyer prior to that “might” allow him to cut you a deal with the DA and get into a diversion.
You’re charged with a crime that can, in most States, lead to jail time - so don’t take it lightly.
